New baby jacket

New baby jacket

This top-down cardigan for a newborn is knitted from just a single ball of DK yarn. And you'll only need to sew the sleeve seams. I used Sirdar Baby Snuggly but it would work in similar yarns too. It's available in all my usual pattern hangouts now and I think it...

New orangutan pattern

New orangutan pattern

I've just written a new King Cole Tinsel pattern for a cute little baby orangutan. He takes just a ball of tinsel yarn and some yarn oddments for his face, hands and feet. And he's just over 30cm/12in long. Available now in my pattern store on Love...

TV interview

TV interview

Delighted to be interviewed by Valerie from the patchwork and craft channel, Just Hands-on TV. Take a peek and watch out for me being just ever so slightly out on the date of Frida Kahlo's death. Oops! Lesson learned. By the way, she died in 1954....

Individual patterns

My growing collection of individual patterns – from baby accessories to toys – are available as instant downloads on the following websites. And don’t forget that if you sign up to my list, I will sometimes send you patterns for free!

You can also buy printed copies of my patterns on Ebay UK. I don’t have my own shop but if you type ‘Fiona Goble knitting patterns’ into the search box, you’ll see what’s on offer.

Very easy to follow and the finished product is delightful

Pattern books

I’ve written over 20 knitting pattern books – on home accessories, dolls, hats, scarves, a series of animal-themed knit books – and even a book on how to knit your own zombies. Most of them are available through local book stores and also online:

There are also a few titles available as ebooks only, which you can also find at the links above.

Craft books usually just sit on my shelf looking pretty – but I want to make so many things from this one

Tutorials

You will need to  know the knitting basics for all my patterns – casting on, the knit stitch and the purl stitch and casting (binding) off. For most patterns, you’ll need to know some other techniques too. Here are some video guides. If there’s a technique you’re not sure of and would like me to cover, please get in touch.

I started writing knitting patterns because I couldn’t find any I really liked. My aunt taught me to knit when I was seven – and I’ve had a project on the go almost ever since.

Before I started knitting professionally, I was a charity worker, co-owned a copywriting and design agency, worked as a pottery decorator and ran a textile business. I’ve also worked as a political researcher and craft teacher.

I live in the UK, just outside London but overlooking a field of horses, with my husband and (sometimes) my student son.
