I have taken the plunge and created a knitting pattern for Johnson and Cummings. Boris Johnsonis portrayed in all his fleshy glory (and anatomically correct in parts, though my own sensibilities and those of my readers prevents me from posting those!). As you’ll see, I’ve also knitted man-of-the-moment and former adviser Dominic Cummings. I really loved creating this knitting pattern for Boris Johnson and Dominic Cummings – and I’m quite pleased with the likeness – though slightly worried that I have made them a little too cute. Thanks to my good friend Brigitte Bott at Brigitte Bott Photography for the great photo of the adorable duo. I am just putting the finishing touches on the pattern, which will be available shortly from the Love Crafts website as a digital download, very shortly. Go on… you know you need a voodoo doll.
This is what my press release says: Not-so-cute woolly versions of Boris Johnson and his adviser Dominic Cummins have been created by a knitter from Hertfordshire – and caught on camera by her professional photographer friend and neighbour. Fiona Goble, who was behind the bestselling book Knit Your Own Royal Wedding which celebrated Prince William’s and Kate Middleton’s marriage, has taken a less tender approach this time round. For my other patterns and to find out more, take a look here.
German-born photographer Brigitte Bott says: “I normally specialise in portraits and family groups of real people. So it’s been refreshingly different to capture the spirits of these knitted lovelies instead!”
Goble reveals that next on her ‘to do’ list are Priti Patel and Michael Gove. “The current government have gifted me a long list of possibilities,” she says. “And some of my fans are planning to knit them as voodoo dolls.
Photographs of the duo plus individual photographs of the lovely pair are available to view here
